Welcome to An Sc 212! In this introductory course on Animal Nutrition you will learn how feeds are digested and resulting nutrients are metabolized to support body processes necessary for animal well-being and productivity. The LECTURE COURSE focuses on principles of nutrition and metabolism, and uses examples from many different animal species. The LABORATORY COURSE provides a hands-on opportunity to learn how nutritional principles are applied to meet the nutrient requirements of different species of animals under varying physiological states. This will include your participation in a GROWTH EXPERIMENT in which you and your classmates will be totally responsible for conducting a 6 week experiment on the effects of different diets on growth and other responses in quail and young lambs.
