The behavior of production species (avian and mammalian) influences the success of any management program. In this course, students study behaviors relating to communication, learning, social interactions, reproduction, and feeding of domestic animals and their physiological basis. Management systems for commercial livestock production and their implications for animal behavior and welfare are stressed.
