Lambs marketed per ewe is the most important factor affecting profitability of sheep farms. Factors that affect reproductive efficiency include:

  • Lambs delivered alive per lambing
  • Lambings per year
  • Proportion of the flock that is in the breeding group
    • Ewe lamb breeding
    • Longevity of ewes
  • Percentage of lambs dying from birth to market
